I made this practice movie poster on Photoshop using found images from google as I hadnt taken images to use in my actual movie poster. I also downloaded font to using dafont.com.
I used red font for my title to make it stand out from the back ground but also to blend in with the blood on the knife. I used red so it would represent blood and that my film is going to be gory. I also used the font that i have used to make it look spooky to support my horror/thriller theme.
Zooms in as a family member looks up (into the camera)
The camera then goes behind a bush (rushed)
The heavy breathing continues
then cuts to young girl (17) walking home and someone who is falling her
shes starts to painic
shes keep looking back and looking into the camera (still image video)
she then picks up her pace and runs into the forest to get away
shes then falls
and the screen goes black
I like this poster for the film, horror, sinister because it doesnt give anything away that happens in the film. The audience are left asking questions of who the girl is in the poster and why has she smothered blood onto a wall leaving a face behind.
I like the font used for the title 'Sinister', i like how it is smudged giving it a scary feel about it. I would adapt the font used in the poster to put into my own poster. I also like how it tells you on the poster that the producer of the film sinister also created other sucessful horror films making th audience aware that its most likely to be a good film making them want to see it.
This trailer is effective as it shows the story line, showing clips from throuogh out the film to show the story line. This is effective because it lets the audience know what to expect from the film making them want to see what it is all about. i like how towards the end of this trailer the it flash cuts intresrting parts of the film leaving the audience wondering whats going to happen next. I also like how at the very end the main character of the film 'sinister' pops right in fornt of the camera which will give the audience a fright making them on edge making them want to go see the film.
If i were to interprate something from this trailer into my own i would leave the audience on edge like this trailer is successfully doing.
I think this poster is effective as the title stands out and it doesnt give too much away. you see the plot of the film and the main character of the film which appeals to the audience making them want to find out more. Also i like how it includes based on a true story as the audience will be more interested in a true story than a made up one making them want to see the film making the poster sucessful.
I like this poster as it doesnt give to much of the story line away and only includes the plot of the story. Also by including on the poster that it is 'based on a true story' it appeal to the audience as they will be interested in it because it is based on a true story. Also by taking the picture of the house during the night it gives it a more spooky look create a thrill for the audience when they see the poster.
The Trailer!
The trailer shows the story of the film without giving too much away or showing what happens. This makes the audience interested to find out how it ends and what happens through out making them want to find out more.
I like the poster to this film but not a fan of the trailer. I think the trailer gives too much away, something i dont want to do but the poster is interesting. I like how it only captures the plot of the story looking spooky which gives nothing away apart from its going to be a thriller/horror something that i want to focus on.
The thing i like most about this poster is the quote, this lets the audience know they are going to be scared making them want to see how they are going to be scared.
The picture use also makes the audience wonder what the cast are pointing at as it is not totally noticeable in the poster at first. But after looking at it for a while you notice the shadow of a figure on the door, this makes the audience interested in what that figure is and what its going to do!
Also the time in the bottom right corner of the photo makes the audience wonder what it is. I like how the title in presented by including a question and answering it its self as it makes the audience wonder again.
Paranormal activity (Italy poster)
I like how the poster they used for Paranormal Activity didn't give too much of the film away but interested the audience leaving them wanting to know more. For example the time t the top right hand side of the poster '3:22:54 AM' catches the audiences attention as you don't know why that time is on the poster making you want to find out what it means. along with the mysterious figure, the audience wants to know what/who it is and what it does.
The trailer
The trailer was the most effective as it captured the audiences reactions of the film making the audience watching the trailer want to experience it for them selves.
Also it shows you some clips of the film that makes the audience interested in what happens in the film and what it comes to and how it all begins.
overall i think this trailer is very effective making the audience want to experience the thrill them selves.
For my teaser i could create something like this trailer as i think it is most effective on the audience making them want to see more! Also I like how the posters dont give anything away which is something i would like to do for my magazine and also the poster to go with my teaser trailer.
For my coursework in A2 media I have decided to focus on: A promotion packag for a new film. Including a teaser trailer A poster for the film A film magazine front cover, featuring the film
The type of film I will be focusing on is a horror/thriller as I enjoy these films the best. Something like Paranormal activity, Blair witch project and The Amityville Horror where something scary or unusual happens. I want my audience to experience a gain of interest from the teaser trailer making them want to know more, but also feeling scared and shocked after watching the trailer. I dont want the poster or magazine to give to much away, I will do this by making it simple and including something out the film for the main image on the poster/magazine. This way my audience will be interested when seeing it and leave them wanting more.
Looking back at my AS part of my media, I enjoyed everything that I had done through out. Such as learning how to work and understand photoshop in brilliant detail, also how to create and what to include when making a magazine. I also now know that it is easier if you flat plan something before trying to create it, something I did when creating my magazine. By doing these thing it will help me proceed into my A2 of my media studies course.
For this year i plan to cover everything that could be included within the exam and the coursework project, as I am determined to improve my grade. However I understand that I will have to put all my hard work and time into both coursework and exam to achieve an overall good grade
As for my product for the AS media studies I am pleased with peer feed back from my class, this has boosted my confidence in making me believe that I am able to produce I professional print product. All I need to do now is to apply my professionalism into my A2 idea.
